Data Governance and Compliance Officer

Mission

The Data Governance & Compliance Officer is responsible for establishing, strengthening, and

continuously evolving enterprise-wide data governance and compliance frameworks. The role

ensures alignment between business objectives, regulatory requirements, and data management

best practices — enabling the organization to improve control, transparency, and trust in its data

assets.

This role bridges Business, IT, Security, Risk, Legal, and Privacy stakeholders, fostering a culture of

data literacy and sustainable, compliant data management across the organization.

Detailled Tasks

1. Data Governance Roadmap

• Define, maintain, and communicate the Data Governance roadmap, aligned with

business objectives and regulatory priorities

2. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

• Ensure compliance with Data Act and other applicable legislation

• Ensure compliance with GDPR, data retention, access control, and privacy-by-design

principles, and support the implementation and monitoring of related data

protection and regulatory controls

• Coordinate with CISO, DPO, Legal, Risk, and Security teams to support and

strengthen data compliance management activities across the organization

3. Governance

• Develop, monitor, and optimize data governance processes and controls, analyzing

non-compliance issues and governance gaps to define and implement corrective and

preventive actions

• Ensure proper execution of governance activities including business term

documentation, data classification, metadata maintenance, data lifecycle

management and data quality rule definition

• Design and enforce enterprise-wide policies, procedures and standards aligned with

GDPR, NIS2, Data Act, etc. and sector-specific regulations

4. Data Ownership & Community Leadership

• Define clear roles, responsibilities, and governance bodies

• Provide training and guidance to data roles

• Lead the Data Governance Community

• Chair the Data Governance Board

5. Business Process Optimization and Change Management

• Analyze and redesign data-related processes for efficiency and accuracy

• Coordinate with platform and architecture teams to integrate governance-by-design

principles into tools, platforms, and technical architectures

• Drive adoption of new governance practices across the organization

6. Training & Data Literacy

• Foster a data-driven culture by building capability and awareness at all levels

(starting from data roles to business and management)

• Contribute to creation of training materials, articles, etc.

7. Maturity Assessment and Reporting

• Define KPIs for data governance activities and data governance objectives,

• Monitor adoption of new practices and results

8. Representation

COMPETENCES

Languages

Background

Expertise

• 3-4 years of experience in data governance, data management or IT governance

• Experience working in regulated and/or complex organizational environments

• Strong exposure to cross-functional collaboration between business, IT, architecture, and

platform teams

• Familiarity with data product concepts, master data, data quality frameworks, and regulatory

compliance (GDPR, EU Data Act, AI Act

• Comfortable interacting with both senior business stakeholders and technical experts

• Technical understanding of modern data platforms is a plus (e.g. Snowflake, DBT, AWS)

• Hands-on knowledge of data catalog, data quality, data lifecycle management, and BI tools is

a strong asset
